Do I need any experience to start helicopter flight training?

No. Most students begin with zero flight time. We start with an Introductory Flight where you'll fly the controls with an instructor — that's typically when people decide to commit.

How old do I have to be?

You can start training at any age, but you must be 16 to solo and 17 to earn your Private Pilot Certificate (Helicopter). Many of our students start in high school.

Do I need to pass a medical exam first?

Yes — an FAA Class 3 medical (or BasicMed) is required before you can solo. We recommend getting it done in the first 1–2 lessons. Most pilots qualify; we can refer you to local AMEs.

Can I do an Introductory Flight Lesson before committing?

Absolutely. Our Introductory Flight Lesson is a 30–45 minute hands-on intro flight with a Flight Instructor. Most students book this before signing up for the full program.

How long does it take to get my Private Pilot Certificate?

Most full-time students finish in 4–6 months. Part-time students (2–3 lessons per week) typically take 8–12 months. The FAA minimum is 40 flight hours under Part 141.

What helicopters will I train in?

Primary training is in the Robinson R44 and Bell 47 — maintained in our own FAA Repair Station by an FAA Mechanic Examiner. Add-on, commercial, and instrument training continue in the same fleet.

Do you offer Commercial, Instrument, and CFI ratings?

Yes. We offer the full FAA pathway: Private → Instrument → Commercial → CFI. Many students go from zero to CFI in 12–18 months.

Do you offer sling load / external load training?

Yes. We offer FAA Part 133 external load (sling) training in addition to our standard certificate programs — useful for utility, construction, and fire-support careers.

Can I train part-time while working full-time?

Yes — the majority of our students do. We schedule evenings and Saturdays, and we'll build a syllabus pace that fits your life.

Do you fly in bad weather?

We follow conservative internal weather minimums above FAA Part 91 requirements. If conditions don't meet our standards, we cancel — and we never charge for weather cancellations.

Can I bring a guest on training flights?

On dual-instruction flights, no — only the student and CFI. Once you've earned your certificate, friends and family are welcome (within helicopter weight limits).
